Why this mattered

Young people across the UK rarely see their realities reflected in mainstream media. The BBC commissioned four youth-led films to change that, tasking us to create a true representation of  their young voices, visions and lived experiences to be seen on their own terms.

Built with community

We partnered with grassroots organisations; TAG, HANA, Spit Game and DataKirk  working directly with young people in London, Hull and Scotland. Each film was co-created with the communities themselve.

What came to life

A collaborative filmmaking journey across the UK, resulting in four joyful, expressive visual stories that captured the identity, pride and creativity of each community.

What changed

The films gave young people a national platform, amplifying local stories often overlooked. The process deepened trust with community partners and showcased the real impact these organisations have on the young people they serve.

Why it connected

The work resonated because it allowed young people to lead, not just participate. By grounding the films in their voices, humour, ideas and cultural worlds, the series felt authentic, joyful and unmistakably theirs.
